Course Overview

SIA CCTV  licence course provides learners with the essential knowledge, skills, and understanding required to work as a CCTV Operator in private security industry. It is a vocationally-focused program designed to prepare individuals for roles in the private security industry. Under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, anyone working in this field must hold an SIA-issued licence. We are  SIA approved training provider for CCTV  Qualification.

Course Details

  1. Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 years or older.
  2. Duration: 3 days
  3. Assessment: Practical assessments and two multiple-choice exams.

  1. Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry
  2. Principles and Practices of Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry
  3. Practical operation of CCTV equipment within the Private Security Industry

Course Structure

The SIA CCTV Qualification  is divided into four stages:

  1. Self-Study
  2. Classroom Study
  3. Practical Assessment (Face-to-Face)
  4. Multiple-Choice Exam

Examination

The final examination for the CCTV Operator Course will  be conducted in our training centre. To complete the course, candidates must pass two multiple-choice exams:

Unit 1: Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry

  1. Questions: 72 multiple-choice questions
  2. Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes
  3. Pass Mark: 51 correct answers

Unit 2: Principles and Practices of Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry

  1. Questions: 40 multiple-choice questions
  2. Duration: 1 hour
  3. Pass Mark: 28 correct answers

Examination Resits

We follow a no pass–no retake fee policy. If you do not pass, there is no charge for your first exam retake. Exam results will be provided within 7 to 14 working days.

SIA CCTV Licence Requirements

To work as a CCTV Operator in the UK, you must hold a  CCTV PSS licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA). This licence is required for individuals who use CCTV equipment to:

  • Monitor public or private activities.
  • Identify specific individuals.

Types of SIA Licences

  1. Front-Line Licence: For operatives conducting surveillance tasks.
  2. Non-Front-Line Licence: For managers, supervisors, or staff not engaged in front-line duties.

Licence Requirements

To apply for an SIA licence, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Pass an identity verification process.
  • Complete a criminal record check.

This course ensures you are fully prepared to meet these requirements and excel in your role as a CCTV Operator.

Conditions of an SIA Licence

The SIA may impose conditions on your licence that are deemed reasonable and necessary. To avoid interruptions to your work, ensure you renew your licence before it expires. The renewal process can begin up to four months before the expiry date of your current licence.

The SIA is authorised to conduct compliance checks. These checks may include visiting your workplace or requesting documents to confirm your adherence to licence conditions.

Important Note

Failure to bring valid, original identification and the required photographs as specified will result in your removal from the course and the inability to take the examination.
