The Emergency First Aid at Work Course SCQF 6 (EFAW) is a comprehensive training course designed to equip individuals with essential first aid skills. This one-day course meets the requirements of both the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. This qualification is suitable for anyone who needs to provide emergency first aid in the workplace or in other settings. Participants will learn how to assess and manage various medical emergencies, including CPR, choking, bleeding, and treating wounds. - Assessing an emergency
- Performing CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Dealing with choking incidents
- Treating wounds and bleeding
- Managing fractures and sprains
- Handling burns and scalds
- Recognising and managing common illnesses
Course Structure
Emergency First Aid at Work course consists of three parts:
Part 1: Theoretical knowledge – You will be in the classroom for face-to-face study, and in the end, there will be four practical assessments, a Multiple Choice Question Paper and a continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.
You will be assessed at the end of the course by multiple-choice questions.
Part 2: Practical activities – the practical content of the qualification will be delivered and assessed face-to-face at the training centre.
You will receive an e-certificate upon successful completion of the Emergency First Aid at Work Course. Normally within 2- 4 working days.
Part 3: Multiple choice examination
you will be expected to answer 15 multiple-choice questions with a duration of 30 minutes and a pass mark of 11 questions.
Resits
If a learner is unsuccessful with the practical observation, they can have a second attempt. This must be taken within the time allowed for completion of the qualification. Exam results for the Emergency First Aid at Work Course will be made available within 2 to 4 working days.
