Entry Requirement
- Learners must be 18 years or older.
- A valid SIA Security or Door Supervisor license is required.
- Learners must hold a current first aid qualification, such as an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, valid for at least 12 months from the course start date.

Course Structure & Content
The Security Guard refresher SCQF 6 training consists of four key stages:
- Self-Study: Independent preparation before face-to-face sessions.
- Theoretical Knowledge: In-person learning covering core concepts.
- Practical Assessment: Hands-on evaluation of skills in a supervised setting.
- Multiple-Choice Examination (MCQ): A structured test to assess theoretical understanding.
Security Guard Refresher Course Contents
Unit 1: Principles of Working as a Security Officer in the Private Security Industry .
Unit 2: Practical Assessment of Security Skills.
Assessment & Examination
Theory
- Assessment through an MCQ exam comprising 28 questions to be completed in 45 minutes.
- The exam is conducted under strict conditions, supervised by trained invigilators.
- A 71% pass mark is required
Practical
- Candidates must demonstrate their ability to perform searches and follow safety protocols.
- Both theoretical and practical components must be passed to achieve certification.
Examination Resits
- No Pass – No Retake Fee: One retake is provided free of charge if needed.
- Exam results are typically available within 7 to 14 working days, with same-day results available in some cases.
- The course is designed to prepare participants for all assessments thoroughly. With guidance from experienced trainers, learners gain the confidence and knowledge required to succeed
